Everything's blooming, weather's starting to turn. We're only about a week away from the frost date. Things are shaping up. Join us this weekend for Springfest. We'll have specials, quick classes, food and door prizes! Hope to see you out.
On Mother's Day weekend we're having another shin dig, Shop Small Saturday. Should be a lot of fun. The container gardens and hanging baskets are looking great. Bud did a nice job this year.
New this year offering Color Combos that are coordinated with hanging baskets. They are nice and big and make pulling together a finished looking container easy.

Bud Tips on Veggie Gardening
Don’t forget, don’t plant your tomatoes in the same spot you did last year. The reason is because planting in the same spot will increase risk of blight, leaf spot and other foliar diseases.
Put your peppers in toward the end of the month. You need to do this because the soil is warmer. Peppers don’t grow well when it’s cool.
Easy way to support your peppers is with tomato cages. They are not good for tomatoes but they are great for peppers. These will keep branches off the ground and peppers from laying on the soil.
To help keep weeds down, if you bag your grass, use the grass clippings. P.S. If you use weed and feed then don’t use grass clipping in the garden.
Sauk Valley Shop Small Saturday, May 9
Our Sauk Valley Shop Small group is at it again! We're joining in to celebrate National Small Business Week with a Sauk Valley Shop Small Saturday on May 9.
A few dozen small businesses in the Sauk Valley are participating. We'll have food, Combo of the Week specials, Shop Small Passport Giveaway, and other activities for the day.
National Small Business Week May 5-8
Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners.
More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.
As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Every day, they're working to grow small businesses, create 21st century jobs, drive innovation, and increase America's global competitiveness.
Sauk Valley Shop Small is celebrating National Small Business Week all month long with the Shop Small Passport Giveaway. Between April 13 and May 9 make a purchase at your favorite Sauk Valley Shop Small business and get your Shop Small Passport stamped to enter for a chance to win one of four $100 gift certificates good at any participating Sauk Valley Shop Small business. Winners will be announced on May 10. There are 8 tables that are assigned after your order is placed. We send out an appointment that details your time and table for pick up. Confirm this appointment.
Look for two emails:

- Appointment Email
Appointments offered in 30 minutes appointment blocks. 1:00p, 1:30p etc.
We try to get as close to your preferred Pick Up time as possible. Please confirm by clicking "Confirm Booking" link in your Appointment Email.

Limited quantities. If you put multiples of an item you want and we only have one in stock an alert will pop up on the desktop site telling you it is out of stock. That means the quantity you selected is higher than the available inventory. For example, Tufa Troughs are all unique. There is only one of each. Each week we take an inventory and add back products that might show as sold out. We’re doing this so we don’t oversell by mistake. So our product availability will change weekly.
iPad shopping. We learned that the pop-up screen where you enter your credit card info was a problem for some. At times the credit card fields were way at the top of the screen and some could not see where to enter their information when shopping on an iPad. This happened especially when they had big orders. If you have problems please message our Facebook Page. We’re learning right along with you and want to help.
