If you ever wonder why we’re talking about all these things that seem not to relate to gardening here’s our reason why.
First, yes we’re into plants, big time. But beyond that, we feel like we’re a part of the community. Things like what’s going on in our local cultural scene and working together for the betterment of the community are important to us. It’s why you see a variety of posts on this blog.
As for Shop Small Saturday, yeah, it’s an event, but more importantly it’s a community mindset. The Shop Small movement really holds potential to make positive change. Things like better roads for our achy gardener backs and cars, stronger public services like our police and fire departments and solid futures for our kids with better schools.
The thing we really dig about Shop Small is how when each of us does what we can, where we can, and when we can, it all adds up to a boon for all. That part is just super cool.
If you can’t make it out to see us on Saturday, try to stop in at one of our member businesses. We’re all attempting to keep it real, keep it local and work together to make our home the best spot in northern Illinois.
