The thing I just love about our local shop small movement is how small actions by many people equate to big impact. I also like the fact that our local movement is not trying to guilt people into boycotting big box stores. It's not about that at all. We all have to shop at a variety of places for different reasons. Sometimes that big box is the place for that item.
When we did the numbers on what spending only ten dollars a month would do for our Sauk Valley area it worked out to be an increase of over 2 million dollars per year that stayed in the community. Two million! Now that's what we're talking about, doing what you can, when you can and where you can.
We're participating with over 30 likeminded business in our area on Saturday, Aug. 23. Stop on out or make sure to visit your local favorite small mom and pop shop.
Visit Sauk Valley Shop Small to get involved.
Peace!
